From March 23 to 24, Kazakh seismologists recorded four aftershocks southeast of Almaty, with epicenters 250-280 km away in China where a January earthquake occurred. The first tremor was on March 23 at 02:03, with a magnitude of 4.3. 

The second, occurring on the same day at 06:41, had a magnitude of 5.2. The third aftershock took place on March 23 at 08:45, with a magnitude of 4.9. The latest aftershock, on March 24 at 11:15, was recorded with a magnitude of 4.3. Almaty's last major earthquake was on March 4, with a magnitude of 5.
