The local administration of the Ulytau region in Kazakhstan issued a statement today, March 28, 2024, regarding the flooding situation in the village of Taldysai. According to the regional administration, located 70 km from the village of Ulytau, the village of Taldysai experienced flooding in eight private houses, with water levels reaching 50 cm. The flooding was caused by rapid snowmelt and rising groundwater levels.
Efforts by local executive authorities, the department of emergency situations, and the police department (30 people and six pieces of equipment) led to the evacuation of 20 people, including five children and seven women, from the village of Zhezdy.
It was also reported that 81 heads of cattle and 20 heads of small livestock were safely relocated from Zhezdy. Earlier, a rescue operation was carried out during the night of March 28, 2024, to evacuate residents from the villages of Kyzyl Zhuldyz, Ekidyn, Akkysy, Kyzylzhuldyz, and nine wintering sites in the Kostanay region.
