Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Igor Lepeha revealed the security measures that will be implemented in Kazakhstan's shopping centers and concert halls following the terrorist attack in Russia's "Crocus City Hall." Lepeha highlighted that all large shopping centers, concert halls over 500 sq. m, as well as educational institutions, healthcare facilities, and places of mass gatherings are considered vulnerable in terms of terrorism.
"We are currently working to conduct additional checks on all these facilities. For those that were previously inspected and received recommendations, we will perform follow-up inspections. For those that were not inspected before, we will conduct inspections. For the rest, at the very least, we will visit, talk to the owners, assess the technical security aspects, and provide recommendations. In this regard, we are actively working," he noted.
Lepeha also provided recommendations for such situations, advising people to remain calm, try to leave, hide, and if possible, evacuate the area. He emphasized the importance of not acting heroically without the necessary expertise and mentioned specific safety protocols for schools in collaboration with the Ministry of Education.
Furthermore, Lepeha mentioned the preventive measures in place in the country, such as mandatory fingerprinting for foreigners entering Kazakhstan. Since January 1, fingerprinting for foreigners has been mandatory, leading to the identification of 10 criminals attempting to enter the country since the beginning of the year.
The security measures and preventive actions undertaken by Kazakhstan in response to the terrorist incident in Russia demonstrate the government's commitment to ensuring the safety and security of its citizens and visitors.
