The National Security Committee of Kazakhstan reported on the prevention of a terrorist attack in Aktau. On April 1, 2024, the KNB officers, in coordination with the prosecutor's office, detained a local resident on suspicion of preparing for a terrorist act.
During the search of his place of residence, components for making an explosive device with shrapnel and other material evidence were seized. The individual is described as a follower of radical religious ideology and has a previous conviction for murder, according to the official statement. The suspect is currently under pre-trial investigation under Article 255, Part 1 of the Criminal Code.
