The Kazakhstan Ministry of Foreign Affairs reached out to Kazakhstan citizens in Russia following reports of Central Asian individuals being detained and having their documents checked after the terrorist attack at "Crocus City Hall". In response to inquiries, the official spokesperson of the Ministry, Aibek Smadiyarov, emphasized that any country experiencing a large-scale terrorist attack automatically takes measures to ensure its security. Local authorities, including law enforcement agencies, are taking necessary steps in response to the situation.

Smadiyarov stated that it is normal for individuals to be detained and checked in such circumstances and advised Kazakh citizens to carry their documents and have a clear purpose for their stay in any country. He mentioned that as of now, there have been no reports of Kazakh citizens being unlawfully detained or held, and any checks conducted are routine procedures.

Regarding the safety of traveling to Russia at this time, Smadiyarov reassured that the border with the neighboring country remains open, allowing for travel. The incident at "Crocus City Hall" occurred on March 22, 2024, when individuals in camouflage attire stormed the venue and opened fire with automatic weapons shortly before a concert by the rock band "Picnic".
