Kassym-Jomart Tokayev Meets Defense Minister Ruslan Zhaksylykov

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the President of Kazakhstan, recently met with Defense Minister Ruslan Zhaksylykov to discuss the state of readiness of the army. Zhaksylykov presented a report on the operational and combat readiness of military units, focusing on training efforts for command staff and personnel.

During the meeting, the importance of effective cooperation between the Armed Forces and central and local authorities in crisis situations was highlighted, especially during the current flood period. The President was briefed on the modern equipment and weaponry of the Armed Forces, the development of territorial defense forces, and the improvement of military infrastructure.

Information was also shared regarding planned events for 2024 under Kazakhstan's chairmanship in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), as well as the conduct of large-scale international military exercises.

Additionally, the President was informed about the department's work on military-patriotic education, the spring conscription for compulsory military service, and measures to enhance the social status and prestige of military personnel. Tokayev acknowledged the importance of the Kazakh peacekeeping contingent on the Golan Heights under the auspices of the UN.

At the end of the meeting, Tokayev outlined tasks for the Minister aimed at further enhancing the combat potential of the Armed Forces. Previously, it was reported that a meeting of the Republican Headquarters for coordinating flood prevention measures and addressing the consequences of the flood period was held under the President's chairmanship.
