Police in Turkistan Region disrupt criminal activity aiding foreigners with migration law violations

In the Turkistan Region, police have successfully disrupted the criminal activities of a group aiding foreigners in violating migration laws at border checkpoints. The regional police department announced the arrest of nine suspects, which included two women and seven men - one from Uzbekistan and the others local residents. They are suspected of orchestrating illegal migration activities. Additionally, six Uzbek citizens were taken into police custody. The search yielded several items, including documents, foreign passports, a hunting rifle with ammunition, narcotics, mobile phones, cash in both tenge and Uzbek som, and other evidence. A criminal case has been opened regarding the illegal migration organization, with investigations ongoing to uncover all aspects of the case.

On April 2, 2024, reports emerged that more than 800 migrant workers were deported from Shymkent. The city prosecutor's office discovered instances of providing foreign nationals with counterfeit medical certificates and insurance policies while examining migration laws.
