On April 4, 2024, a meeting with foreign representatives took place in Aktau to discuss the upcoming joint military exercise "Bіrlеstіk-2024" scheduled for the summer in Kazakhstan. The Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan revealed that a joint plan was signed between the defense ministries of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.
The planning conference in Aktau focused on organizing and conducting the operational-tactical exercises. Various preparation-related issues and upcoming tasks were deliberated during the conference. The exercises are set for July 2024 at the training ground "Oymasha" and Cape Tokmak in the Caspian Sea. The activities will involve actions aimed at "fulfilling combat training tasks to determine the zone of armed conflicts."
