Authorities Declare State of Emergency in Atyrau Due to Flooding Concerns

Vice Prime Minister Kanat Bozumbaev arrived in Atyrau on April 6 for an official visit. During a meeting of the Operational Headquarters, he announced that a state of emergency will be declared in the city due to the high water levels in Russia and the need to reinforce the dams along the Zhaiyk River in the Atyrau region.

Bozumbaev emphasized the importance of being prepared to strengthen the dams, dig necessary channels, and manage water levels to prevent flooding in Atyrau. He reassured the public that the state of emergency is being declared as a precautionary measure to mitigate any potential risks posed by the rising water levels.

President Tokayev addressed the nation, highlighting that the current flooding may be the most severe in the last 80 years. He outlined the measures being taken to minimize the damage, including mobilizing additional military forces to assist in flood relief efforts and allocating resources from the state reserves to support those affected by the natural disaster.

Bozumbaev, who conducted an aerial inspection of the flooded areas in the Atyrau region, stressed the urgency of the situation and the need for coordinated efforts to safeguard the city and its residents from the impending floodwaters. The government's proactive approach and swift response aim to ensure the safety and well-being of the population in the face of this natural calamity.
