Massive Rescue Efforts Underway in Flooded Regions of Kazakhstan

According to the Republican Information Headquarters as of 10:00 on April 7, a total of 72,029 people, including 16,078 children, have been rescued and evacuated from the affected areas. Currently, 14,368 individuals, including 7,255 children, are being housed in temporary shelters.

Rescue operations are being conducted by air transport from the Ministry of Emergency Situations, Ministry of Defense, and National Guard. Over 7.5 million cubic meters of floodwater have been pumped out since the beginning of the floods, with 952 thousand sandbags and 976 thousand tons of inert material deployed.

A total of 12,455 personnel and 1,300 pieces of equipment, including 7 aircraft, are involved in the emergency rescue operations. As of now, 3,686 private residential houses, 557 backyard territories, and 1,822 summer cottages remain submerged in seven regions.

The regions under the control of the Republican Operational Headquarters include Atyrau, Aktobe, Akmola, Kostanay, West Kazakhstan, North Kazakhstan, and Pavlodar regions. Approximately 3,000 medical professionals and around 300 emergency medical teams are stationed in the disaster zones, as reported by the Minister of Health Akmaral Alnazarova. Earlier, the Ministry of Health stated that 133 water samples in flood-prone regions did not meet safety standards.
