State of Emergency Declared in Atyrau Region, Kazakhstan

On April 7th, a state of emergency of a natural nature was declared in the Atyrau region.

The decision was signed by the head of the Atyrau region, Serik Shapkenov, on April 7, 2024, according to the Atyrau region Operational Headquarters. The corresponding order by the regional governor was published on the "Open NPA" website. The deputy head of the Atyrau region was appointed as the leader of the emergency situation response, tasked with taking actions to address the situation. The governor of the region, Serik Shapkenov, will oversee the implementation of the measures. The decision will be effective from the date of the first official publication.

On April 6th, Deputy Prime Minister Kanat Bozumbaev announced that a state of emergency would be declared in Atyrau. According to the latest information, rescuers have evacuated 28,501 residents from the Zhiloy district of the Atyrau region, and 15,000 people have been evacuated from the administrative center of the city of Kulsary.
