The Ministry of Emergency Situations in Kazakhstan has provided an update on the flood situation in the country. Senior officer Erasyl Saipash reported that as of 10:00 AM, 3745 private homes and 421 yards in seven regions are still flooded. A total of 75,982 people, including 18,681 children, have been rescued since the flooding began. Air assets have successfully saved 2811 individuals, including 865 children. Currently, 7203 people, with 2794 being children, are staying in temporary shelters, while 69,971 livestock have been moved to safety.
More than 126,000 tons of humanitarian aid have been delivered to the affected regions, and over 7 million cubic meters of floodwater have been pumped out. The water has receded from 1739 homes and 1743 yards. A team of 16,375 personnel and over 1600 units of equipment are actively engaged in emergency and rescue operations. Monitoring is being carried out on 105 erosion sites on roads and 65 isolated settlements.
A hotline has received 1052 calls, with psychologists offering urgent support to those affected. National operational headquarters are operational, prepared to respond promptly to any escalation in the situation. People are advised not to leave their homes or evacuation points without permission. Safety protocols, assisting neighbors, and preparing essentials in case of an emergency were emphasized by Saipash.
Deputy Prime Minister Roman Sklyar has assured those affected that the government will cover the financial losses incurred due to the floods. The continuous efforts and dedication of rescue teams and volunteers are vital in reducing the impact of the floods and ensuring the safety and well-being of the affected population.
