The official representative of the Ministry of Health of Kazakhstan, Aigerim Urazalieva, has reported on the results of laboratory monitoring of the quality and safety of water. The Ministry is closely monitoring the epidemiological situation in regions affected by floods. As a result, the work of the sanitary-epidemiological service (SES) has been intensified.
Urazalieva emphasized that the situation regarding infections, which tend to increase during flood periods, remains stable. The SES is ensuring enhanced control over drinking water supply facilities to prevent infectious diseases. Regular sampling and testing of drinking water for sanitary-chemical and microbiological indicators are being conducted. The results of the laboratory monitoring show no risks of waterborne infectious disease outbreaks at present.
Addressing the media and bloggers, Urazalieva warned against fake messages circulating in messengers about the threat of infectious disease outbreaks in flooded areas. The Ministry of Health urges people not to trust unreliable sources and unverified recommendations from unknown individuals.
Recently, false information has been circulating about the suspension of stationary medical services and contamination of water sources with a virus. Urazalieva reiterated the importance of not spreading such misinformation to avoid causing panic among the population. The Ministry is committed to combating disinformation in the media regarding public health issues.
Earlier, the Ministry of Health provided guidance on how to avoid contracting infectious diseases during floods.
