in National Security / Kazakhstan - by

The head of the region, Gauyez Nurmuhametov, addressed the residents of Northern Kazakhstan regarding the flooding situation, describing it as complex. The local authorities are taking all necessary anti-flood measures.

During this challenging time, the country's leadership is supporting us. Prime Minister Olzhas Abayevich Bektenov has visited the region twice on the instructions of President Kassym-Jomart Kemelevich Tokayev. Currently, the first deputy head of the government, Roman Vasilyevich Sklyar, is in the region overseeing the anti-flood efforts. The preservation of residents' lives is our top priority, emphasized Gauyez Torsanovich.

Efforts have been made to divert meltwater from populated areas in the initial stages. However, a significant volume of water is now flowing along the Esil River, with the Sergeyevskoye Reservoir reaching a record overflow of 4 meters 25 centimeters. This poses a threat to settlements along the Esil River, with the regional center expected to be reached in a day or two. Villages such as Pribrezhnoye, Teplichnoye, and the Zarechny settlement are at risk of flooding, according to the address by the Akim of the North Kazakhstan region, Gauyez Nurmuhametov.

A massive water flow is heading towards Petropavlovsk. Evacuation of residents from the Zarechny settlement, whose homes are in the flood zone, is being carried out under the instructions of the first deputy prime minister, Roman Vasilyevich Sklyar. The Akim of the North Kazakhstan region urges residents to comply with the requirements of the emergency department, police, and city administration during this flood period.

This year's flood is a significant challenge for all of us. Through unity and solidarity, we can overcome all difficulties. Over 3,000 people are involved in combating the floodwaters, including construction companies, businessmen, civil servants, rescuers, communal services, police, volunteers, and ordinary residents. Rescue services from other regions, as well as National Guard and Ministry of Defense personnel, have arrived to provide assistance. Gauyez Nurmuhametov expressed gratitude to everyone for their help during this challenging period, saying a simple "thank you."
