National Security Committee Dismantles Major Methamphetamine Smuggling Channel in Kazakhstan

The National Security Committee, in coordination with the prosecution authorities, has successfully eliminated a channel of contraband involving a large shipment of methamphetamine. According to the information released by the Committee on April 10th, an operation in Shymkent led to the arrest of a foreign national suspected of organizing the said channel.

During the inspection of a heavy-duty vehicle, over 90 liters of narcotics dissolved in Cola drink were discovered and seized. Expert analysis revealed that the concentration of illicit substances in the liquid exceeded 80%, as stated by the authorities. A pre-trial investigation is currently underway under Article 297, Part 3 of the Criminal Code.

In March, it was reported that the National Security Committee had intercepted the smuggling of contraband cigarettes worth a billion tenge into the country.
