The Committee of State Revenues of the Ministry of Finance of Kazakhstan has issued a warning about the increasing incidents of fraud related to sending notifications to taxpayers via email.
Entrepreneurs have reported receiving fake notifications on their email addresses about "recovering debts to the budget from funds held in bank accounts." However, the authorities emphasize that according to tax legislation, revenue service notifications can only be sent to taxpayers through registered mail via postal services, electronically through web or mobile applications, or through the State Corporation "Government for Citizens." The Committee added that no other channels are provided for sending notifications.
The Committee of State Revenues of the Republic of Kazakhstan urges citizens to be vigilant and follow simple rules. They advise against disclosing personal information, bank card details, transfer receipts, codes, and passwords to anyone, even if they claim to be officials from revenue services, banks, or other entities, and not to click on any links. They stress the importance of trusting and referring only to official sources of information.
Vice Minister of Finance Erzhan Birzhanov previously explained during a session on March 6, 2024, why tax authorities will be scrutinizing mobile transfers exceeding 255,000 tenge. For more details, you can read here.
