The Ministry of Health of Kazakhstan has recently published recommendations for Kazakhstani citizens traveling to countries affected by cholera.

The Ministry advises Kazakhstani tourists traveling to cholera-affected countries in Africa and Asia, including India, Afghanistan, and Pakistan, to take precautions such as consuming boiled or bottled water, avoiding ice in drinks, ensuring proper thermal processing of food, washing fruits and vegetables thoroughly with boiled or bottled water, washing hands with soap before eating and after using the restroom, swimming only in permitted water bodies without letting water enter the mouth, and seeking immediate medical attention if any symptoms of the disease appear.

On April 5, 2024, it was reported that a passenger with cholera was identified on a flight from Delhi to Almaty operated by Air Astana. The infected individual and other passengers in contact were hospitalized in an infectious diseases hospital in Almaty. On April 8, the Department of Sanitary and Epidemiological Control of Almaty responded stating that no cases of cholera were detected among the contacts of the infected passenger.
