Astana Reservoir at 99% Capacity as Water Levels Begin to Recede

in National Security / Kazakhstan - by

The Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation has reported that the Astana Reservoir is currently filled to 99% capacity as of April 12th. The ministry stated that the discharge of incoming water is being carried out in transit mode, with the peak of the flood already passed and a trend of decreasing inflow into the reservoir.

To ensure safety, floodwaters are being safely discharged through the urban channel of the Esil River. Continuous monitoring of the situation is ongoing around the clock. Just a few days ago, the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation announced that the Astana Reservoir in the Akmola region had transitioned to transit mode, with 400 cubic meters of water being discharged per second while an equal amount was flowing in.
