On April 11, 2024, a 32-year-old Russian citizen was detained at Almaty International Airport. The man, who was on an international wanted list, arrived in the city from Moscow on a flight from Vnukovo to Almaty.
It was revealed that the man had been put on the wanted list in September 2023 for allegedly illegally recruiting citizens of Tajikistan and stateless individuals into armed groups, armed conflicts, or military actions in other countries.
Currently, the detained individual is being held in a temporary detention facility. The issue of his extradition is under consideration, according to the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
