Joint Border Patrol Operations on the Caspian Sea Yield Positive Results

As of April 1, 2024, Kazakh border guards, in collaboration with their Russian and Azerbaijani counterparts, have been conducting raids to protect the biological resources in the Caspian Sea. Since the start of these joint actions, 63 violators on 39 small vessels have been detained, with 187 km of poaching gear confiscated by the National Security Committee (KNB).

Administrative fines totaling over 3 million tenge have been imposed. Furthermore, 1041 sturgeon, 14,659 Caspian roach, and 63 seals have been released back into their natural habitat. According to the agency, the prevented damage to the state exceeded 2.1 billion tenge.

"The work to ensure the protection of the Caspian waters continues," concluded the KNB. Previously, the KNB reported conducting 53 special operations and seizing drugs worth five billion tenge.
