The Kazakhstan Aviation Committee (KGA) has provided recommendations to domestic airlines regarding the airspace of seven Middle Eastern countries. Due to the complex political situation in Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Israel, Egypt, and Syria, Kazakh airlines are advised against using the airspace of these countries.
Currently, Kazakh airlines are revising flight schedules to avoid the airspace of the aforementioned nations. They are closely monitoring the situation and will make changes to their schedules if necessary.
Flights QR-389/390 and QR-391/392 by Qatar Airways on the Doha-Almaty-Doha route scheduled for April 13 and 14 are currently delayed indefinitely as the airline considers altering the flight paths.
Air Astana has also announced flight delays to Dubai from Almaty and Astana. Passengers are advised to check flight statuses on official websites or through airline call centers as passenger safety remains the top priority for the civil aviation industry.
In the early hours of April 14, Iran confirmed the launch of UAVs and announced an imminent missile attack on Israel in response to a deadly Israeli strike on the Iranian consulate in Damascus, Syria, earlier in the month. UN Secretary-General António Guterres condemned the actions and called for an immediate cessation of hostilities. An emergency meeting of the UN Security Council is scheduled for 4:00 PM New York time on April 14 (1:00 AM Astana time on April 15).
The Ministry of Defense has reassured that Kazakh peacekeepers on the Golan Heights are not under threat.
