The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tajikistan has announced the tightening of punishment for individuals earning a living through fraud. According to the statement, law enforcement agencies are currently engaged in preventive work to prevent violations of laws related to traditions, celebrations, and rituals, as well as parental responsibility for the education of children and freedom of conscience and religious associations. To achieve this goal, a unified registry has been established in the country where data on individuals engaged in sorcery and illegal religious teachings will be recorded.
Changes have been made to Tajikistan's legislation to strengthen criminal and administrative liability for fraudsters earning a living through witchcraft, fortune-telling, distribution of talismans and amulets, and illegal religious education. They will now be sent to forced labor for up to six months.
Previously, it was reported that in Angola, 50 people died after consuming a liquid used for witchcraft testing.
