According to the statement released, the arrests of four Kazakhstanis took place on April 17, 2024, in Almaty, Almaty, and Zhambyl regions.

"They are suspected of organizing and participating in activities of a religious extremist organization banned on the territory of the republic. During searches at their residences, a large amount of religious literature and other material evidence was seized."

The press service of the National Security Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan stated that a pre-trial investigation is being conducted under Article 405 of the Criminal Code.

It is worth noting that two of the detained individuals had previously been convicted of a similar crime.

"The court is deciding on the measure of restraint to be applied to the detainees."

According to Part 1 of Article 201 of the Criminal Procedure Code, other information is not subject to disclosure.

A few days earlier, the National Security Committee reported on a thwarted drug trafficking channel. With the court's sanction, a measure of restraint in the form of detention has been applied to five detained individuals.
