Drug Lab Busted in Almaty Region, Detained Citizen Faces Legal Action

Another drug laboratory has been eliminated in the Almaty region. This was announced on April 26, 2024, by the Committee of National Security (KNB) of Kazakhstan.

According to the press release, the underground laboratory's activity in the production of psychotropic substances was disrupted on April 17, 2024, by the KNB Department in the Almaty region.

"During the search, about 35 kg of synthetic drugs, 500 liters of precursors, and laboratory equipment were seized. A citizen of Kazakhstan has been detained on suspicion of committing this crime. Pre-trial investigation is being conducted under Article 297, Part 3 ("Illegal production, processing, acquisition, storage, transportation for the purpose of sale, transfer, or sale of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, their analogs" of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan)," the statement reads.

The press service of the KNB of the Republic of Kazakhstan stated that with the court's sanction, the detained individual has been remanded in custody.

On April 12, 2024, employees of the KNB Department in the Almaty region apprehended a man suspected of organizing an underground laboratory for the production of psychotropic substances. During the searches, about 25 kg of synthetic drugs, a ton of precursors, laboratory equipment, and a large sum of foreign currency were confiscated.
