On April 26, the Ministry of Emergency Situations provided an update on the current flood situation in the regions.

Askar Sharip, a representative of the MES, stated during a briefing at the Crisis Management Center, that some of the forces and resources of the ministries of emergency situations, defense, and internal affairs, previously deployed to the West Kazakhstan and North Kazakhstan regions, are returning to their permanent bases.

"Nevertheless, the situation in the Atyrau, West Kazakhstan, and North Kazakhstan regions remains under control due to the presence of water in the Zhaiyk (Ural) and Esil rivers. There is an increase in water levels, so monitoring continues," emphasized Askar Sharip.

He added that in order to prevent floods along the Zhaiyk river in the rural districts of the Inder and Makhamber districts and the city of Atyrau, rescuers are carrying out shore strengthening works.

Overall, more than 25,000 people, 3,000 pieces of equipment, 633 water pumping units, 268 floating devices, and 14 aircraft are involved in emergency and rescue operations and flood prevention efforts across the country.

On April 25, the Ministry of Emergency Situations reported that the large volume of water is gradually moving from West Kazakhstan to Atyrau region, with the threat of a second wave of floods still looming in the region.
