The Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Kazakhstan has announced that flood prevention measures in Atyrau have been intensified, with employees of the Department of Emergency Situations, military personnel, and local residents involved.
According to the department, in order to reduce the risk of flooding in the city, 239.7 km of dams have been built across 113 sites.
"The situation is under strict control. The water level of the Ural River is monitored four times a day," the Ministry of Emergency Situations statement said.
Earlier, the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Kazakhstan demonstrated the water pumping process in the flooded area of Kulsary in the Atyrau region.
On April 25, the Ministry of Emergency Situations reported that a large amount of water is gradually moving from the West Kazakhstan region to the Atyrau region.
