NSC Concludes Investigation on Extremist Organization in Kazakhstan, Sentences Issued

The National Security Committee (NSC) has completed an investigation into a criminal case involving seven citizens of Kazakhstan and a foreigner for organizing and participating in the activities of a religious extremist organization, as well as propagating terrorism.

According to a statement from the NSC's press service on April 30, 2024, "Three of the convicted individuals had previously been convicted for committing similar crimes. They have been sentenced by the military court of the Akmola garrison to imprisonment ranging from one to eight years."

The verdict entered into legal force on April 2.

The investigation revealed that the convicted individuals were spreading ideology, cultivating hatred towards the secular way of life, and the constitutional system among their circles.
