Kazakhstan's President Signs CIS Cooperation Agreement on Emergency Response

President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, signed a law on the ratification of the Agreement on Cooperation of the CIS Member States in the Prevention and Response to Emergencies on May 6.

The law of the Republic of Kazakhstan "On the Ratification of the Agreement on Cooperation of the CIS Member States in the Prevention and Response to Emergencies in the Field of Public Health of a Sanitary and Epidemiological Nature" was signed by the head of state, according to Akorda.

Earlier, it was reported that the senators at a plenary session of the chamber on April 25, 2024, ratified the Agreement on Cooperation of the CIS Member States in the Prevention and Response to Emergencies in the Field of Public Health.

The agreement aims to strengthen the legal framework for the development of a collective system to counter biological threats. Its provisions regulate the procedure for providing assistance to CIS countries in eliminating emergencies, establish specialized anti-epidemic teams, and define the main areas of work and the conditions for their use in CIS countries.
