The Ministry of Emergency Situations has reported on its ongoing efforts to minimize the damage caused by floods in the Makanchi district of the Abai region. The village of Bakhty suffered from the natural disaster, with several houses being flooded.
According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, over 300 sandbags were laid in the village, and around 400 tons of inert material were spread along the dam's shore. Additionally, 12 personnel and 7 units of equipment from the Emergency Situations Department of the Abai region are on-site for monitoring and quick response in case of worsening flood conditions.
More than 40 individuals from local executive bodies, approximately 70 local residents, and 18 units of equipment are also actively involved in the response efforts. The Ministry of Emergency Situations reassured that there is no threat of flooding residential houses and that the situation is under control.
Earlier reports indicated that several houses in the village of Bakhty were flooded after snowmelt in the Tarbagatay mountain range in the Abai region. Local road workers were the first to report the incident. Meanwhile, preparations are underway in the neighboring region as residents of East Kazakhstan are urged to prepare for potential floods.
