Emergency Situations Ministry of Kazakhstan reports 102 people in Almaty after earthquake

The Emergency Situations Ministry of Kazakhstan reported on March 4, 2024, that 102 people, including 43 children, are located at population reception points following a strong earthquake in Almaty.

The department noted that the hotline received 239 informational calls. "Currently, there have been 156 reports of damages to social facilities and multi-story residential buildings in Almaty. 102 people, including 43 children, are at the population reception points," the statement said. 

The Ministry emphasized that essential facilities, as well as the airport, railway stations, and metro, are operating normally. On March 4, 2024, another strong earthquake occurred in Almaty.

Residents of the city felt strong tremors with a magnitude of 5 at 11:22. It is worth noting that a similar strong earthquake occurred in Almaty on the night of January 23, 2024. Back then, underground shocks, felt by residents and guests of the southern capital, reached 5 points.
