Flights from Almaty airport on March 14 have been temporarily suspended due to a raging snowstorm with strong winds.
According to Almaty airport officials, it is currently impossible to conduct de-icing procedures due to the severe weather conditions.
"Departures from Almaty are suspended until the weather improves. We also inform that from 7:00 PM local time, Almaty airport will be closed for arrivals. Almaty International Airport will resume its operations as soon as the weather conditions improve," the statement said.
It was previously reported that due to the snowstorm, 11-point traffic jams have formed on the roads of Almaty.
