As of 10:00 PM on March 14, due to deteriorating weather conditions, transportation restrictions have been imposed on 12 highways of national importance in four regions of Kazakhstan. In the Almaty region, seven roads spanning a total of 589 km are affected by snow and limited visibility.
These include access to the Almaty-Tau tourist base, the Almaty-Shelk-Horgos-Bayserke-Chundzha interchange, the Almaty-Tashkent-Termez-Janakurylys-Zhambyl border route, the Almaty-Ust-Kamenogorsk-Ecopost-Konaev path, the Ekaterinburg-Almaty-Kurty-Shamalgan route, the Almaty-Kokpek-Koktal-Horgos-Shelk-Shonjy path, and the Kokpek-Kegen-Tyup-Alasa pass-Kegen route.
In the East Kazakhstan region, one road covering 160 km is restricted due to the risk of spontaneous snow avalanches. This affects the Ust-Kamenogorsk-Altai-Ulken Naryn-Katon-Karagay-Rakhmanovskiye keys-Ushanovskoe-Altai route.
Meanwhile, in the Zhambyl region, two roads totaling 150 km are affected by worsening weather conditions in the Almaty region. These roads are the Almaty-Tashkent-Termez-Almaty border-Kordai and the Almaty-Tashkent-Termez-Kenen-Kainar routes.
Furthermore, in the Zhetysu region, two roads spanning 210 km are impacted by snow, blizzards, and limited visibility. These roads include the Almaty-Ust-Kamenogorsk-Konaev-Taldykorgan and the Saryozek-Koktal-Altyn Emel pass routes.
