In August 2023, police officers in Akmolinsk discovered a revolver of unknown origin, later identified as a Nagant system antique from 1895. Initially, experts were unable to recover the destroyed factory numbers on the weapon. However, the marking numbers were later found by the chief forensic expert of the Department of Criminalistics in the Akmolinsk region.
Further investigation revealed that the weapon was stolen in 1981 in the Kyzylorda region. The police are now tasked with determining how the revolver ended up in a different region and what crimes may have been committed using it over the past 40 years.
This discovery comes after the recent arrest of a 13-year-old boy in Petropavlovsk, who was found carrying a rifle. It was later revealed that he was on his way to meet friends with a toy gun, highlighting the importance of distinguishing between real and fake weapons in today's society.
