Andrey Khazbulatov has been detained in Argentina at the request of the National Interpol Bureau of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan.
Last summer, he was put on the international wanted list by the capital's anti-corruption service, facing charges under Article 189, Part 4 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan for misappropriation of entrusted property.
He is suspected of illegally appropriating funds amounting to over 196 million tenge, as reported by the Ministry of Internal Affairs press service.
In 2019, Khazbulatov was appointed as the head of the National Film Support Center.
