Construction of New Bridge in Bishkek to Improve City's Infrastructure

in News / Kyrgyzstan - by

Starting from March 24th, construction works for a new bridge on Shukurov Street in Bishkek will commence, as announced by the city's press service. The bridge will span across the Eastern BCHK with an exit onto Mederova Street, allowing vehicles to access Ahunbaeva Street. With a width of 15 meters, including a pedestrian walkway, the bridge aims to connect key streets in the area.

Shukurov Street is of significant importance as a district road. The upper part of the street started from Ahunbaeva Street, while the lower part bordered a canal and ended in a dead-end. The project will link Ahunbaeva and Mederova Streets, enhancing connectivity in the region, according to city officials.

Future plans include the reconstruction of Karadarinskaya Street from Mederova Street, leading to Tolstoy Street, where it will connect with Suyumbaeva Street. Additionally, three new routes will be established in Bishkek, linking Ahunbaeva Street with Jibek Jolu Avenue, providing alternatives to 7 April Street (formerly Alma-Atinskaya), Abdrakhmanova Street, and Chingiz Aitmatov Avenue.

Furthermore, streets such as Fuchika, Bakaeva, and Suyumbaeva will be extended to Tolstoy Street over the railway, with preparatory works already underway on these sections. The upcoming infrastructure developments are set to enhance transportation efficiency and connectivity in Bishkek, benefiting residents and commuters alike.
