The city administration of Bishkek has announced comprehensive plans for road infrastructure improvements, including renovations on six major streets, the construction of three new bridges, and the development of three additional roadways across the railway.
The deteriorating condition of the roads, primarily attributed to their construction almost two decades ago with a shorter-than-expected lifespan, necessitates the upcoming reconstruction efforts.
The following streets are slated for enhancements:
- Chui Avenue from Manas Avenue to Torekul Aitmatov Street
- Abdrakhmanova/Baytik Batyr Street from Zhibek Zholy Avenue to Masaliev Street
- Akhunbaeva Street from Chingiz Aitmatov Avenue to Zhukeev-Pudovkin Street
- Gorky Street from Manas Avenue to 7 April Street
- Yunusaliev Street from Sukhe-Bator Street to Gorky Street
A significant overhaul and expansion will occur on Zhibek Zholy Avenue from Kurmandzhan Datka Street to Togolok Moldo Street.
New bridges are set to be constructed over the Bishkek CHP Canal on Auezova Street, over the Alamedin River on Zhibek Zholy Avenue, and over the Eastern Great Chui Canal on Shukurov Street, connecting Akhunbaeva and Mederova Streets.
Additionally, three new roads will be established this year to connect Akhunbaeva Street to Zhibek Zholy Avenue, offering alternatives to 7 April Street, Abdrakhmanova/Baytik Batyr Street, and Chingiz Aitmatov Avenue, aiming to ease traffic congestion on Molodoy Gvardii Boulevard and Asanaliev Street.
The municipality also disclosed plans for a new road section from Mederova Street to Kara-Daryinskaya Street, branching off from Tolstoy Street and linking with Suumbayeva Street, providing an alternative route to 7 April Street and Abdrakhmanova/Baytik Batyr Street, and improving the city's transportation network.
