During an agricultural forum in Kyrgyzstan focused on establishing a sustainable agro-industrial sector, Prime Minister Akylbek Zaparov announced that the population of Central Asia is projected to increase by 27% by 2050. Specialists also predict a 35% rise in food demand and a 50% increase in water consumption by the same year.
Zaparov emphasized the importance of overcoming various challenges to unlock the region's potential, such as lack of access to the sea, resource dependency, limited financial access, and the impact of climate change. Water was highlighted as a vital lifeline in Central Asian countries, with the Prime Minister stating that water and green energy should be the unifying factors in the region to ensure sustainable development for all nations.
