In response to journalist Bolot Temirov's social media post alleging that his wife and four cellmates were beaten by a detention center employee in Bishkek, the National Center for the Prevention of Torture visited the facility to investigate. The center filed three complaints of misconduct against the detention center staff by the detainees and documented three cases of abuse.
All materials will be sent to the prosecutor's office for legal assessment. Temirov's wife, Mahabat Tajibek kyzy, submitted a statement detailing mistreatment by a guard. The detention center denied the abuse, stating that Tajibek kyzy and her cellmates resisted a transfer to another cell, leading to a verbal altercation with staff.
