Kyrgyzstan Ensures Medication Supply for Healthcare Organizations in Second Quarter of 2024

in News / Kyrgyzstan - by

Currently, medications are being procured for the second quarter of 2024 in Kyrgyzstan, as reported by the Minister of Health, Alymkadyr Beyshenaliev. By April 15, there will be 100% fulfillment of all requests from 290 healthcare organizations. Beyshenaliev stated that hospitals are currently supplied with medications at 70-80%.

Data presented by the Minister shows varying levels of medication supply across different regions, with Issyk-Kul at 65%, Bishkek at 85%, Chui region at 80%, and other regions at 70%. Addressing whether patients are purchasing medications out of pocket, the Minister assured that essential medications are provided at 100%.

Concerns over medication shortages were previously raised by members of parliament and healthcare professionals. The establishment of the state enterprise "Kyrgyzpharmacia" in March 2023 aimed to enhance the availability of medications for the population, resulting in significant cost savings in medication procurement. Efforts are being made to address challenges in the healthcare system and ensure the uninterrupted supply of essential medications to healthcare facilities in Kyrgyzstan.
