The Ministry of Transport and Communications has addressed the recent protest by truck drivers, who are requesting an increase in the load capacity of trucks on the roads and the removal of the ban on entry into Bishkek during daytime hours.
In response, the ministry reiterated the relevance of Government Resolution No. 454 of 08.08.2011, which aligns with the Minsk Agreement on vehicle weights and dimensions for international transport on CIS member states' roads. This resolution currently allows for a load of up to 10.5 tons on the roads.
The ministry stated that these measures aim to preserve the existing and future highways for long-term use. A commission has been formed by the Ministry of Transport, consisting of representatives from various departments and organizations, to address the question of increasing the load on truck axles. They are currently en route to the weigh control post in the village of Malovodnoye to assess the situation.
If the road experts provide a well-founded positive assessment of increasing the load on axles, corresponding projects will be developed to amend Government Resolution No. 454, as per the ministry's conclusion.
