The Ministry of Transport and Communications has recently added 300 kilometers of roads connecting towns to its inventory. This update was shared during a briefing by Absamat Talantbek Uulu, the head of the road management department at the Ministry of Transport.

As per the announcement, the country currently has a total of 34,000 kilometers of roads, out of which 19,000 kilometers fall under the ministry's jurisdiction. After the completion of the administrative-territorial reform, the roads on their balance sheet will be transferred to the municipalities of Bishkek and Osh.

Furthermore, it was highlighted that approximately 700 kilometers of roads were paved last year, including those at the Töö-Ashuu pass. The drilling of a tunnel on the alternative north-south route has also been successfully completed.

In addressing the tree cutting issue along the road to Issyk-Kul, Absamat Talantbek Uulu assured that the area will see significant improvement, with new trees being planted to replace those that were cut down. Additionally, the construction of the Korumdu - Balbay Baatyr road is scheduled to be completed by early 2027.
