in News / Kyrgyzstan - by

During a joint session of parliamentary committees, General Prosecutor Kurmankul Zulushev provided an update on the case of Asel Nogoibaeva and shared details on the individuals held accountable. The court has sentenced the accused to 20 years in prison for the torture of Asel Nogoibaeva.

Zulushev also announced disciplinary actions against certain officials for their failure to fulfill their duties, including issuing reprimands and implementing disciplinary measures. The Ministry of Internal Affairs has taken steps against its employees involved in the case.

Following inquiries, it was revealed that the judge of Sokuluk district has been dismissed from his position. An investigation by the Ministry of Internal Affairs resulted in disciplinary actions against the deputy chief and officers.

Despite some expressing dissatisfaction with employees facing only disciplinary action, citing a case of a woman falling victim to domestic violence despite repeated complaints to the police, there is a call for more severe consequences for such actions.

The case of Asel Nogoibaeva, who was brutally attacked by her ex-husband, has sparked demands for justice, leading to a 20-year prison sentence for the perpetrator. The court has also ordered compensation for Asel Nogoibaeva and imposed a fine on the convict.

As legal proceedings continue, the quest for justice for victims of domestic violence remains an urgent matter, emphasizing the need for comprehensive measures to address and prevent such atrocities in society.
