The Russian Embassy in Bishkek has reported that nearly 400 tons of humanitarian aid have been delivered to Kyrgyzstan from Russia. The aid includes 337.5 tons of enriched wheat flour and 60.7 tons of vegetable oil. The latest shipment of 398 tons of food supplies has been sent to the city of Osh.
This food aid has been provided by the Russian Federation to the southern population of Kyrgyzstan through the World Food Programme of the United Nations (WFP). The delivery of 398.2 tons of food to the WFP warehouse in Osh is aimed at supporting vulnerable families by helping to restore public infrastructure, mitigate the effects of climate change, and provide hot meals in schools across Kyrgyzstan.
The assistance will be distributed to the population of the country to enhance their food security as a reward for participating in projects supported by the WFP in the southern regions of Kyrgyzstan. These projects involve the restoration of irrigation networks, drinking water systems, tree planting, riverbank reinforcement, construction of rural bridges and drainage systems, as well as training programs to strengthen livelihoods and promote advanced agricultural practices.
The humanitarian aid from Russia is a crucial contribution to improving the living conditions and resilience of communities in Kyrgyzstan, emphasizing the importance of international cooperation and solidarity in times of need.
