During a working trip to Washington, Kyrgyz Prime Minister Akylbek Japarov met with USAID Administrator Samantha Power to discuss the current state and future prospects of projects in Kyrgyzstan. They focused on projects aimed at improving the living standards of rural populations, as well as bilateral cooperation in education, energy, agriculture, digitalization, and renewable energy.
USAID highlighted concerns over recently adopted laws regarding "foreign agents" and "media resources." Power emphasized the importance of democratic institutions, accountability for global investments, progress in combating corruption, and effective governance to ensure development goals are met.
