Kyrgyzstani mountaineers have successfully ascended the challenging Lobuche peak in the Himalayas, as announced by the head of the Mountaineering Federation, Eduard Kubatov.
Among them was the first visually impaired athlete from Eurasia to reach this summit. Kubatov expressed his pride in leading the team to such incredible heights. The Lobuche peak, standing at 6,119 meters above sea level, is located in Nepal's Sagarmatha National Park, near the Khumbu Glacier.
The mountain has two main peaks: Lobuche West (6,145 meters) and Lobuche East (6,119 meters), separated by a long snowy ridge. While Lobuche West is considered an "expedition peak," Lobuche East is popular among trekkers.
This achievement follows the success of the first Kyrgyzstani national expedition in the Himalayas, which conquered the Manaslu peak (8,156 meters above sea level) in the fall of 2022. The team of five Kyrgyz participants reached the summit of Lobuche on April 21st, with a remarkable para-athlete among them, marking a significant milestone in mountaineering history.
