A state of emergency has been declared in the Jalal-Abad and Talas regions, as announced by the Deputy Head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, Urmabek Shamyrkanov. The emergency situation is localized in areas affected by landslides.

Shamyrkanov mentioned that the civil defense forces are assessing the material damage caused by the landslides. He emphasized the unpredictability of when and where landslides might occur, despite storm warnings issued over the past five years.

Between April 20th and 22nd, Kyrgyzstan experienced 30 landslides, with additional ones occurring today in Jalal-Abad and Talas, resulting in over 200 residential homes being flooded. Prior to this, a state of emergency had been declared in the Osh region.
