in News / Kyrgyzstan - by

During a meeting of the Committee on Transport, Communications, Architecture, and Construction of the Kyrgyz Parliament, Deputy Mederbek Sakaraev requested action to be taken against bus drivers in the capital city. He expressed concern over their reckless driving behavior, stating that they pose a safety hazard by racing on the roads.

Sakaraev pointed out that although minibuses have been replaced by buses, the driving habits have not improved. He emphasized the importance of addressing the issue promptly to ensure the safety of passengers and the longevity of the bus fleet.

In response, Mayor of Bishkek, Aybek Junushaliev, acknowledged the problem and highlighted that a significant number of drivers violate traffic regulations. To tackle this issue, a training classroom has been established at the transportation company's premises, equipped with computers for drivers to take exams before each trip.

Additionally, educational sessions are regularly conducted in collaboration with law enforcement agencies. The city authorities have decided to invest in simulators to train drivers in proper driving techniques. Junushaliev mentioned that drivers' salaries are now linked to their driving behavior, with penalties for violations to promote responsible driving practices.
