During a briefing, the Deputy Head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, Urmatbek Shamyrkanov, attributed the cause of landslides in Kyrgyzstan to local rains. He emphasized that the local authorities could not predict the occurrence of such events and that blaming anyone for being prepared or not was premature.
Since April 20, 46 villages in the Osh, Batken, Jalal-Abad, and Talas regions have been affected by landslides, leading to the declaration of a state of emergency in certain areas. Tragically, two individuals lost their lives due to the natural disaster: a man whose car was swept away by a mudflow and a teenager who was struck by lightning.
