Asian Development Bank (ADB) is allocating $56 million for the construction of sewage and wastewater treatment facilities in Cholpon-Ata. This information was reported by the State Agency of Architecture, Construction, and Housing and Communal Services of the Kyrgyz Republic.
According to the agency, a corresponding protocol has been signed. Of the total amount, $31 million constitutes grant funds, while $25 million is a credit. As per ADB's terms, the credit is provided for 32 years with an eight-year grace period.
In Cholpon-Ata, the following infrastructure will be developed:
- Sewage treatment plant with a capacity of 14.2 thousand cubic meters per day
- 18 sewage pumping stations
- 45.4 kilometers of gravity and pressure sewage mains
- 108.8 kilometers of intra-block sewage networks (including in the villages of Bosteri, Baktuu-Dolonotu, and Kara-Oy)
All sanatoriums, boarding houses, resorts, and guesthouses located in these areas will be able to connect to the central sewage system.
Additionally, as per the agency's information, the following developments are planned in Cholpon-Ata:
- Regional history and culture museum
- Tourist information centers
- Cycling lanes and pedestrian pathways around the lake (promenade)
- Special parking lots for cars
- Three public parks
- Improvement of the infrastructure around the petroglyphs location in the north of the city
