Climbers Conquer Putin Peak to Honor WWII Fighters on Victory Day

A group of public figures and mountaineers has successfully climbed the peak named after Vladimir Putin to pay tribute to the immortal feat of the fighters who participated in the Great Patriotic War.

According to them, the ascent was timed to the 79th anniversary of Victory Day. Participants carried portraits of their ancestors as part of the "Immortal Regiment" campaign.

The ascent began in the morning on May 6. The summit of Putin Peak was conquered in 10 hours. After the ascent, the participants of the event sang military songs and launched a festive salute.

  • Putin Peak is the highest point ever reached by the "Immortal Regiment" campaign. The summit is located in the Tian Shan mountain system. Its height is 4,446 meters. Before the hike, the group received the Victory Banner from the veterans of the Kyrgyz Society of Blockade Participants.
